What is SHR?

SHR (Super Hair Removal Machine) combines 3 different wavelengths, therefore its safer for darker skin types. It is also faster and virtually pain free system that allows the treatment head to be moved over the skin rapidly, rather than one shot at a time. This handpiece is mostly used for larger areas of the body and darker skin types.

Our SHR (Super Hair Removal Machine) also performs standard IPL treatments including skin rejuvenation, wrinkle therapy, acne treatment, but has the addition of the SHR hand piece all on one machine which means that you will be able to perform hair removal on all skin types.

What is IPL?

IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) is one of the best technologies in the industry, which uses light energy to target accurately and remove pigmented or damaged skin cells or hair follicles. Using a handheld device, our laser technician will target multiple wavelengths of light onto the skin. This light heats cells in the skin and breaks them down. The body then removes the damaged tissue naturally. Different wavelength filter will be used depending on the type of laser treatment. IPL treatments are extremely effective on lighter skin types and can be performed on up to skin type 4 clients.

Do I need a patch test if I had laser before elsewhere?

Yes, you will need to have Laser patch test & consultation if you are a new client to DD Laser clinic. This allows us to make the most customisable approach when treating you as well as ensuring the treatment is safe for you.

Is laser treatment painful?

Most clients describe IPL as slightly uncomfortable, rather than painful, comparing the treatment to a rubber band snapping against the skin for a brief second. combined with a feeling of warmth. Treatments performed with a SHR laser are virtually pain free, only the slight feeling of warmth in the skin is present.

How do I prepare?

Keep the area to be lasered clean, without any cosmetic products, make up or fake tan. We gently cleanse the skin to prepare it for the treatment. We then apply a room temperature ultra-sound gel to the skin. You will also be asked to wear protective eye goggles for your safety.

What to expect after the treatment?

A little redness, like sunburn, is usual after the IPL treatment for pigmentation and occasionally clients experience slight swelling, which usually goes down after 24-48 hours.

Laser Treatment Aftercare

We advise apply a high SPF sunscreen. It is important that you avoid sun exposure before, during and after IPL treatment for pigmentation so sunscreen is essential and direct sun exposure must be avoided.
